นักวิจัยระบุ อีกไม่นานเมาส์จะตายไปจากโลกนี้ และมีอุปกรณ์อื่นมาแทนที่

กรุงเทพธุรกิจ ออนไลน์ : เกือบ 40 ปีแล้วที่เมาส์ถูกคิดค้นขึ้นมาเพื่อใช้ในวงการคอมพิวเตอร์ แต่จากนี้ไปมันอาจจะกลายเป็นอดีตอย่างที่ใครก็คาดไม่ถึง

สตีฟ เพรนทิส นักวิจัยจากสถาบันวิจัยการ์ทเนอร์ บอกว่า จุดจบของเมาส์อาจมาเร็วกว่าที่คิด อาจจะภายใน 3-5 ปีข้างหน้าด้วยซ้ำ ซึ่งสิ่งที่จะมาแทนที่นั้น เป็นระบบที่จะจับท่าทางของผู้ใช้คอมพิวเตอร์ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นจอสัมผัส หรืออุปกรณ์จดจำหน้าตา

“ถ้าเป็นคอมพิวเตอร์ตั้งโต๊ะ เมาส์ก็ถือว่าเป็นอุปกรณ์ที่มีประโยชน์ แต่สำหรับอุปกรณ์ความบันเทิงในบ้านหรือโน้ตบุ๊ค เมาส์แทบไม่มีประโยชน์เลย”

สิ่งที่ทำให้สตีฟเชื่อมั่นว่าเมาส์จะตายจากวงการเทคโนโลยีไป เพราะทุกวันนี้บริษัทที่ผลิตอุปกรณ์อิเล็กทรอนิกส์ต่างๆ หันมาสร้างอุปกรณ์ที่สามารถตอบสนองผู้ใช้ในแบบอื่นๆ แทน ซึ่งเป็นผลมาจากการเติบโตของวงการเกมนั่นเอง

“อย่างพานาโซนิคเอง ตอนนี้กำลังพัฒนาระบบใหม่สำหรับอุปกรณ์ความบันเทิงในบ้าน นั่นก็คือระบบตรวจจับหน้าตาและท่าทางของผู้ใช้ คือแทนที่จะใช้รีโมทคอนโทรล คุณก็แค่ยกมือขึ้นมาเหมือนจะเปลี่ยนช่อง ระบบก็จะรู้ทันทีว่าคุณกำลังจะทำอะไร นอกจากนี้ มันยังจำหน้าตาคุณได้อีกด้วย เมื่อไรก็ตามที่คุณมานั่งหน้าจอ หน้าของคุณจะไปโชว์อยู่บนทีวีเลย แล้วคุณก็แค่เลื่อนมือไปมาเพื่อเลือกเมนูที่ต้องการบนจอ”

ขณะที่ โรรี่ ดูลี่ รองประธานกรรมการอาวุโสของ Logitech ผู้ผลิตเมาส์และคีย์บอร์ดรายใหญ่ที่สุดของโลก บอกว่า เรื่องจุดจบของเมาส์เป็นเรื่องที่พูดเกินจริงไปหน่อย เพราะตลอด 20 ปีที่ผ่านมา บริษัทสามารถขายเมาส์ได้มากกว่า 500 ล้านชิ้น ซึ่งน่าจะเป็นข้อพิสูจน์ได้ว่าเมาส์มีความสำคัญกับวงการคอมพิวเตอร์มากแค่ไหน

อย่างไรก็ตาม โรรี่เห็นด้วยที่ผู้ใช้มีทางเลือกในการควบคุมคอมพิวเตอร์ได้หลากหลายมากขึ้น รวมถึงอุปกรณ์ต่างๆ ก็มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงไปตามไลฟ์สไตล์ของผู้คน แต่นั่นก็ไม่ใช่เหตุผลที่ทำให้คุณค่าของเมาส์ลดลง

แล้วถ้าถามว่าคีย์บอร์ดล่ะ จะล้มหายตายจากไปด้วยหรือไม่ สตีฟบอกว่า คีย์บอร์ดเป็นอุปกรณ์พื้นฐานสำหรับใส่ข้อมูลตัวอักษร ซึ่งยากที่จะหาอุปกรณ์อื่นมาทดแทนได้ แต่สำหรับเมาส์นั้น ไม่ใช่
